What sequence are the books in and do i need to read them in order?
The sequence is Death Sentence (Book 1) Death Sentence London (Book 2) Death Sentence Liberty (book 3) and then the Chrome Roses books. You can read the first Death Sentence book or Chrome Roses Book 1 without reading any others, but its more satisfying to read them all together. Please note: Chrome Roses is now an entirely standalone series from Death Sentence, though it is a spiritual successor. The reason is simply that there were so many exciting new ideas for Chrome Roses it developed into an original story with it’s own lore.

How do I specify a sketch or discuss original pages of art?
If you order any of these rewards I will send you a message and we can then discuss the details. There is also a contact form on my website where you can send a message to my inbox. https://montynero.com/contact/
Original comic art pages from Chrome Roses include shipping and insurance. They will be sent separately from the rest of the order to keep them flat and packaged securely.

How long have you been making Chrome Roses?
I’ve been writing down notes on this weird cyberpunk world, and various plot and character elements for three years. And I worked this all up into a script for the first book over two years ago. Whenever I write a script I often sketch designs for the characters and key locations. Then I wrote a second script for a different story in the same world, and then a third. By this time I’d fleshed out the world of Chrome Roses in some really interesting and original ways, so I went back and rewrote the earlier scripts incorporating the new ideas. As a writer, it’s not unusual for me to have scripts ready to go waiting for an artist or the right time. It was only after my car crash last year that became magnetically drawn to this world, and found myself intensively drawing it with pencil and ink every day. I lost myself in it completely. At that point I knew it had to be my next project. So, depending on how you count it, it’s either three years…or ten months since the crash.

Why do shipping rates vary?
Shipping rate prices include all the packaging, which is robust and specifically chosen to fit and protect the books, prints, and stretch goals. This varies in size, type and cost depending on how many items are being sent. There are two warehouses, one in the USA and one in the UK. This means I can charge the cheapest rate for each area, keeping costs down in the USA and UK particularly. I also get charged different rates depending on the number of items that have to be included, their total weight and size, and which warehouse does the work. Shipping prices for the most valuable or rare rewards, such as original art or comic pages, also includes much more comprehensive insurance. Finally, different carriers are used in the USA and UK which each have different rates for different countries. I am always working to get the best price for shipping and if it is simply too high to your particular country we have some excellent digital rewards available.

Why is there no shipping charge for my add on?
Sometimes, depending on factors like if you’ve already paid a shipping charge for something else in your order, or size and cost, it’s simpler to keep additional shipping charges out of the equation. You’ll still get your stuff.
Last updated: August 01, 2024 06:49
Why are there extra shipping charges for certain add ons?
Some items need additional shipping charges to make it viable to send it to you, based on variables like your location, or which warehouse the extra item comes from, or total weight/size pushing you into a higher postal bracket, or when it’s being sent. For instance, we may occasionally only have stock of an item you’ve requested in a different warehouse from the one your other items are coming from. As another example, if you order Chrome Roses Book 2 and 3 these will be sent on a later date which will require an additional shipping fee. But by ordering these now, you save on both the cover price (as an advance order) and on future rises in the cost of shipping, Early Bird ordering works out on average at least 10% cheaper. We are always trying to find the cheapest way to ship items, but it’s incredibly complicated (we ship all our items to over 50 countries) so please remember there are also digital options if delivery charges prove too high based on your personal circumstances.

When will digital items be sent?
Digital Chrome Roses orders will be sent when all the items in that pledge level are finished and all the books are formatted for print. It’s the same file used for digital and printing. Generally digital files are sent to customers a month earlier than print files. When this happens links to the PDF’s are sent directly to your email for download, and we also update you in Kickstarter with the same links. We send all the digital files in a pledge level to everyone at the same time, so you won’t get any digital files till the last item in that pledge level is finished. We can’t make exceptions for individual customers, or send items in a pledge level to you piecemeal - everyone gets treated equally. At the moment 75% of items are complete. Please check our monthly KS updates for further news on how each remaining book is progressing.

How can I best ask you a question?
The quickest way is to use the contact form here…
https://montynero.com/contact/
Make sure you type your email correctly when you fill out the form.
The contact form pops quickly into my email on my phone, which I check regularly. It also means I can email you and come back and follow up on any notes later on. It’s reliable and quick and easy to find.
You can also message me on Kickstarter. When I’m in creative mode, writing and drawing, I might not check the KS messages for a week or more. But I will get back to you. And when I reply, you might not check your KS messages for a while either. So it’s not as fast as email.
Posting a question on the comments in the KS page also works, though I don’t get alerted and you don’t get alerted when there is a post or a reply. So while either of us might see the comment and reply the same day, it can also take much longer than an email or KS message.
So using the contact form is the best option, and KS messaging is the second best option. You can KS message me by clicking on the creator name at the top of the Death Sentence: Cyberpunk Kickstarter campaign page, and then pressing the ‘contact me’ button which pops up.
You can also reach me on social media, but from experience trying to find the subtle details of an order in one of a number of possible messaging/social media apps causes a lot of hassles. Social media is better for broad general updates rather than order specifics.
Ultimately, your order is derived from a spreadsheet that exists in Kickstarter and then your Backerkit survey. Any amendments have to be entered into that spreadsheet to be processed by the shipping team. If you KS message me, or use the contact form, I can do that for you. You can also update your own backerkit survey at any time, changing your own delivery details or adding items to your order. (Your backerkit survey link was sent to you in an email from backerkit.)

Where is my kickstarter survey?
Your survey link was sent to the email address you use for kickstarter at the start of August 2024. It came from backerkit.com. If you search your email inbox for the campaign title ‘Death Sentence: Cyberpunk’ and ‘backerkit’ you should find it. If not, it may have gone to a folder other than your inbox, such as ‘spam’ ‘promotions’ or ‘updates’. You should move it back into your inbox to ensure you don’t miss it or lose it. Follow the link and bookmark the backerkit survey page for future reference. You can come back to the backerkit survey to change your delivery details or add items later. Another way to find your survey is by going to www.backerkit.com and logging in. Then click on your profile image top right, and scroll down to ‘pledges and surveys’ in the list that pops up. You’ll find your ‘Death Sentence: Cyberpunk’ campaign survey listed there too.

Why were Platinum Book 2 and 3 not in the original Clean Sweep level?
The first Chrome Roses kickstarter included Platinum Book 1, to see how popular this format was. The Clean Sweep level includes everything in the entire first kickstarter, as described, with a precise itemisation of everything in the campaign. As the Platinum format has proved wildly popular, Platinum Books 2 and 3 will be added for the first time to the second kickstarter later this year, and the third campaign next year. As a thankyou to backers who ordered Platinum Book 1, they can get Platinum Book 2 and 3 now at a cheaper price than anyone else will be able to get it later on. Shipping is also cheaper if you order now than it will be in 2025. Platinum Books 2 and 3 will both ship separately in 2025, after the other items.

Last Updated At: 08/01/24What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
